Grab N Go

The paleo diet is on the verge of widespread acceptance from boxes around the world. Typically, any diet involving absolutely no dairy, alcohol, grain, sugar, or starch would leave one to think one thing – run. Well, not so fast. Paleo is the only nutritional approach that stems from genetics. Similarly known as the ‘caveman diet’, the paleo approach focuses on lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and natural fats to achieve a lean figure while maintaining high energy levels throughout the day.

Oftentimes, we find it is easier to cheat the system when we are
out and about. Because of this, it is important that those who follow the paleo diet should snack on goodies that are delicious yet simple to throw together.

  • Trail Mix
  • Sliced apples drizzled with agave nectar
  • Celery sticks dipped in almond  butter
  • Frozen grapes (great for summer)
  • Turkey roll-ups stuffed with avocado

  • Can of tuna mixed with 1 tbs of olive oil, 1 tbs, of lemon juice, salt, pepper
  • Frozen berries
  • Fruit infused water
  • Dark chocolate

  • Cauliflower popcorn
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Fresh cucumber sticks wrapped in prosciutto
  • Banana chips
  • Kale shake / 1 ½  cup coconut water, 1 cup of kale, ½ cup blueberries, ½ banana, ½ apple, 1 tps agave nectar, 1 tps flaxseed

I would be lying if I said I have been sticking to paleo the past couple of months – I’ve fallen off the deep end (weekends, mostly). I had much more energy and overall felt healthiest when I followed a strict paleo regimen. That being said, I plan on getting back on track sometime soon. I think it is extremely important to remember, in my opinion, that occasionally eating outside a paleo parameter is OK! In fact, I don’t think you should restrict yourself from eating food that you enjoy eating, which is why I believe many people are turned off by the concept of clean eating. What I don’t think many people understand is that it can taste good, it is simple to make, and your body in turn will thank you for it.

My go-to for paleo meals:
